This recent Crash editorial brings us a remixed adaptation of the Edith Beales. Both “big” and “little” Edie flaunted 70-styled fits that make us puurrr with envy/pleasure. Odd, quirky, surreal, broken, whimsical fantasy… everything Grey Gardens exposes is right up our ally… (please watch the original before you see Drew Barrymore’s attempt)…

The reclusive two-some (mother and daughter.. aunt and cousin to Jackie O) live in the past while inhabiting the rotting Gray Garden mansion. While the mother drifts upon dreams of her former singer/songwriter life, her daughter paces around the house living out her previous fashion “debutante” days. The team behind this particular shoot accomplished a modern take on the unique scene that was “The Ediths” in Grey Gardens. Photographer Alexandra Catiere and Fashion Editor Elisa Nalin realized the concept thoroughly, adding touches of art influence (all drawings by Antonio Marras… what do you think?)… seemingly the blueprints of the creative mind. The stylist uses the entire Kenzo fall/winter collection… perfection? Do tell us your thoughts… hope you enjoy loves!

“But you see in dealing with me, the relatives didn’t know that they were dealing with a staunch character and I tell you if there’s anything worse than dealing with a staunch woman… S-T-A-U-N-C-H. There’s nothing worse, I’m telling you. They don’t weaken, no matter what.”“Oh, yes, I did. I did, I had my cake, loved it, masticated it, chewed it and had everything I wanted.”“Listen, kid! I’m extremely organized. I know exactly where to look for this stuff. I’ve got it under control right here, but I can’t find it. Get it?” “It’s very difficult to keep the line between the past and the present. You know what I mean? It’s awfully difficult.”“Will you shut up? It’s a goddamn beautiful day, shut up!”“No, no, this is the revolutionary costume! I never wear this in East Hampton!”“Well, I’m going to get naked in just a minute, so you better watch out.”
