“the other day when I was walking through the woods, I saw a rabbit standing in front of a candle making shadows of people on a tree” -Stephen Wrightfinals are finally final. woot woot, yeep yeep… jiiive baby jiiive. Heavy pats on back. The minute we could take a breath our bags were packed, cars loaded and gassed, tunes checked and charged… winding roads to Mendocino ahead. Couldn’t wait to get out of the city and back into towering Redwoods and rough ocean cliffs. Nature… nature was our answer. We would surely be able to do nothing and feel damn good doing it there. Wrong. Too tired and wired to rest easy. I know we aren’t alone here… work so hard all round’ the clock that resting seems unjust? Painful even? It takes one day of worthy rest to make productivity seem a long lost friend… and procrastination an alibi left in the cold for the taking by another (that’s mine!) Well, days have since passed and we are back on track to doing what we love and creating for our own pleasure not a classrooms critique, ie: bliss. Alex got all her Christmas shopping done yesterday, making me feel even more worthless. What’s the fun in giving when you have to think so hard? Its exhausting. Tomorrow will be the day I tackle Christmas gifts.
Took these shots of Alex in my parents house in the woods. Favorite old books and candles gave way to beautiful natural light… she looks stunning if I do say so myself. … so happy everyone is diggin’ the giveaway. Your creativity and ideas are so fun to dive into… keep it coming, we love you so. Reading each comment is better than coffee in the morning. Thats pure joy right there. Alex is wearing a vintage silk tunic (found at our new favorite, Painted Bird, in the Mission District), crocheted vest from the Salvation Army, Onyx and Silk necklace by the beautiful Maya Rowland, and knockout mary janes by Ash.“Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got a hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handling it onto future generations.”

Oh my goodness girls! You both are so beautiful and your photography skills, framing capturing light, everything are so professional. Reading this reminded me of a trip my family took through the redwoods when I was a teenager. We listened to Pink Floyd “Wish you were here” and everything felt so magical and creepy and wondrous. it was my FAVORITE family vacation ever even though I was tucked in the way back of a stinky minivan. I would love to visit again some day. I hope your holiday went very well and congrats to the winner of that gorgeous necklace!! Wow! She really deserved it! Love you girls! Can't wait till we can finally have a meet up!! oh and I hope you both take pictures while you are abroad! I cant wait to see how you dress for beachy weather!
