If you’re like us, today is not about the food. Don’t get us wrong, we will absolutely be chowing down on some beautiful home cooked meals; however, we like to think that the real importance of today, or any day for that matter, is to truly be in the moment, to cherish the people and opportunities we are so blessed to have in our lives, and to remember never to take advantage of those treasures. We are TRULY blessed to have the supportive loving friends and family that we do. In fact “friends” does not do justice to the people we hold dear to us yet are not blood related…”family” is much more fitting, and therefore, we consider ourselves surrounded by one LARGE and beautiful family. The beauty of this, if you are able to see things in this light, is that you will never feel lonesome, or too far from home. Having said that, we are thankful for you for joining our family, for taking a somewhat intimate peek into our lives, for sharing our passion, and for giving us a glimpse into yours. “Hapiness is not real unless shared.” – Christoper Mccandles
“When the sky is falling from above youAnd the wind is raging from the coastAnd you want someone who truly loves youI will be the one who loves you the most When the masquerades in burlesque ballsBecome too ordinary to boastYou complain about the parades and curtain callsI will be the one who loves you the mostWhen the women with their stolen gracesDon’t invite you to play hostTo their daughters with fake facesI will be the one who loves you the mostWhen all the debutants desert youAll the doorways are all closedAnd all the harlequins have hurt youI will be the one who loves you the mostWhen your suitor’s sneer and swank beside youAnd leave you hollow like a ghostAnd you just want somebody to confide toI will be the one who loves you the mostWhen you forgive your imperfectionsAnd you’ve auctioned all your clothesAnd you look to see your true reflectionYou will be the one who loves you the most”Peace & Love,

“cook me in your breakfast, and put me on your plate, ’cause you know i taste great…put me in your dry dreams or put me in your wet if you haven’t yet…” -Devendra Banhart.Yeah yeah… we all know this face. Ladies and Gents… this here is infatuation at its finest.
This man. speaks in metaphors. analyzes everything. has humor with no limits. speaks in intellect and humble nature. creates on a daily (painter, musician, songwriter…). born in Texas. raised in Venezuela. studied in San Francisco at the Art Institute. can’t seem to find a song we won’t spend (money we don’t have) on. “Banhart’s albums offer ashram-appropriate guitar strums, trippy-hippie tone poetry and, if you’re lucky, at least one tune where he sings from the perspective of a rodent.” SPIN.comdo yourself a favor and watch this.the man and his thoughts…for the eyes…for the ears…
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,And sorry I could not travel bothAnd be one traveler, long I stoodAnd looked down one as far as I couldTo where it bent in the undergrowth.
Then took the other, as just as fair,And having perhaps the better claim,Because it was grassy and wanted wear;Though as for that the passing thereHad worn them really about the same.
And both that morning equally layIn leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sighSomewhere ages and ages hence:Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference.
after a bit of contemplation…quite happy with this path. It was 8th grade. Our latin teacher was Mr. Toone (he proved to be as great as his name… and he indeed moved to a “tune” that few understood, but if they did…. oh man, twas’ a treat). He drilled Latin into our brains for 2 hours a day…. his teachings always were deeply intertwined with life’s lessons and satirical twists, this always kept my (Amy’s) outright attention and lead me down a path that encouraged a love affair for words and analyzing everything. To this day I remember everything from that classroom… I can’t say the same for a single teacher since (high school, undergrad, and now graduate…). This Frost poem was a mandatory for Mr. Toone. If you couldn’t recite it with ease and eloquence, you were made fool of and then erased from his awareness and given no attention. I learned it. I loved it. To this day, it still floats across the forefront of my thoughts as I relate it to life’s many choices (especially in this day; where picking dish washing detergents means wasted minutes agonizing over a hundred brands.) Mr. Toone used this poem to both illustrate and appreciate hidden satire; to many, The Road Not Taken is a poem about complete individualism, about knowing your path and having no regrets. Critic Lawrence Thompson says “oh contraire“… apparently Frost had a terminally inflicted walking partner; a man who pondered, wondered, considered and debated the path he did not choose. Hence Frost’s portrayal of the inner dilemma. We however, choose to read the last lines with our own interpretation, that’s what poetry is for anyhow right? To each his own.______________________________________________________________________________________________The boots are a vintage buy, I haven’t taken them off since the purchase. The leather was another steal…. we had been on a long and seemingly endless hunt for the perfect brown leather jacket. I was shopping for my Halloween costume and ta da… it was in a corner, illuminating perfection and feelings of belonging. I have never scurried in such a hurry. Thick, soft, supple, used, abused… its everything you want in vintage leather. The dress is perfect for the fall if you still want to bring some neutrals into your daily. A soft taupe crochet dress that goes perfect for almost any occasion; day, night, wedding, meeting… and so on. Love to all.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen or heard from our fave Swede, since last April at Coachella to be exact; and in our books that’s much too long to go without a peep (or in her case make it a wail and a booty shake)from our most inspiring girl crush Lykke Li. However, as many are clamoring, gushing, ooing and aweing at the premiere of New Moon, it’s not the movie that’s getting us all riled up (although Amy is a closet fan), but the soundtrack. Yep, our girl Li has indeed come out with a new ballad. We’re hoping Lykke Li will grace us with her presence at Coachella again this year, or make an appearance in SF soon, but until then we’ll just have to take this in, soak it up, and put it on repeat…”…actually listen to it when you get a chance.. Lay down on a bed and just listen my love.
Love is a serious matter when it’s real. It’s blood and it’s death. But it’s also life, ain’t no other way around it.”-Lykke LiThen…

Drooling over this editorial from French Elle’s 2008 September issue. The garments alone could make a cool and collected individual loose it… but Tamara Taichman (creative director) simply blows the mind. Is it just us? This brilliant scene that she realized gives this spread texture beyond the clothing (which we might add… are all soooo good). Dark, dank, empty and cold creates quite the “seemingly” listless environment. Shows what beautiful clothes can do… it would be a dream living in such quarters as long as the clothes came with it (and of course, the small little mirror to check your utter perfection while napping on a stained mattress in Lanvin.) Hope you enjoy this as much as we did/do/will. Thinking once every few weeks we’ll sift back to issues from years past and post a “time trip” that still has remained “now” in some form or another. Happy Tuesday lovelies. Thank you for your visits and comments… it makes our world go round.

Sorting through the usual daily editorial eye candy, this spread from dazed and confused (titled “Aroused by the Scandalous World of the Tudors”) did just that… revved up the senses for our own creative pursuits of the day. We are both stuck on design and art projects(5 weeks left..5 weeks left) and have been trying desperately to get in our usual groove. These regal shots lent a hand…
feeling grateful for the day. xx peace&love Amy and Alex
amy:I feel like someone is… alex: fucking with your life? amy: yeah…. alex: its you.
A rather lovely (and all time favorite) tune for this special occasion… Love us some Simon & Garfunkel. Amy’s Dad was front row for this Monterey Pop Fest in 67′. We live vicariously… enjoy.
